The Freedom to Live Free

-“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything. (1 Corinthians 6:12 NIV)
I hear people say so often these day, "I'm grown, I can do what I want." That's so true, but beyond age giving us the freedom to do as we please, GOD has given us the freedom to make our own choices in life. However, He did not stop there. If we accept His Son, He has also gives us freedom from the sin that so easily entangles us. If God has given us this freedom, why do we still subject ourselves to the bondage of this world? We allow money, sex, drugs and social status to master us.

WE WERE SET FREE!!! Let’s walk in our freedom, leave the prisons Christ has set us free from. Let’s refuse to stay in the bondage from which we have been delivered, stop allowing money to determine our choices, stop allowing other’s opinions of us to affect how we live our lives. Let’s allow Christ to guide our decisions and allow His feelings towards us to shape who we are in Him.

I have met peers growing up who felt that being a Christian would be boring. They saw Christ as a dictator Who does not let you do anything. But Christ doesn’t want to dictate us, He wants to guide us as to how to live the best life possible. In John 10:10, Christ tells us that He comes that we may have life and have it more abundantly. He wants us to enjoy our lives, not dread them. Trust in Him. He created this life, He knows the best way to live it! Be free in Christ.
A lot of times, we want Christ to be our Savior but we don’t necessarily want Him to be our Lord. We want Him to save us from hell and bestow gifts upon us and fight our battles, but we want to continue living our lives our way. But we were bought at a price. We are not our own.
“You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:20)
“You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of human beings.” (1 Corinthians 7:23)

CHRIST has set us free, but many times, we build our own walls of imprisonment. “I’m not good enough” BOOM, there’s a wall. “I slipped up and sinned, God doesn’t love me anymore.” BOOM, wall. “They don’t like me.” BOOM, wall. “I’m not smart enough, pretty enough, athletic enough, I’m too poor.” BOOM! wall, shackles, chains, and jumpsuit. You’ve just imprisoned yourself mentally, one of the worst kinds of bondage.

If the devil can get you to believe that you can’t move and do, you will keep yourself from reaching your full potential.
The Bible says to be transformed by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2). It also says that whom the Son sets free is free indeed (John 8:36).
Walk in and trust that freedom. Don’t allow the devil to play those mind games.
Don't be mentally controlled.
