(Ship)WRECKED but God Can Be Trusted

In the ebbs and flows of life, sometimes transitions become turbulent and storms come our way that leave us feeling shipwrecked. But what do we do when we feel wrecked by life? Do we succumb to waves of anxiety? Do we decide to lay down and drown in depression? Or do we choose to trust God as we tread the waters?

“and the rest, some on boards, and some on broken pieces of the ship. And so it came to pass, that they escaped all safe to land.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭27‬:‭44‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Some of us are so worked up about the ship that wrecked. We are consumed by the water and the shattered pieces of the ship that surround us when God is trying to get our attention to see that even broken pieces float. It’s not over. This isn’t the end. Shattered boards still carry you to shore.

Trust God to get you through the storm. Even in the midst, you are safe.

“Now I urge you to take courage, because there will be no loss of any of your lives, but only of the ship.”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭27‬:‭22‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

“God isn’t sabotaging you. He is making you safe.” - Imani Raeford

Hard truth to swallow but sometimes the ships we’re sailing through life on are actually more dangerous than the sea we find ourselves in when the ship is destroyed.

Some of our ships had to be obliterated for our protection. We found too much security, pride, assurance, identity, etc. in them instead of in Christ. Some of our ships were leading us astray.

Your ship could’ve been a job, maybe a friendship, a relationship, a business endeavor, anything that started to get you off focus or steer you away from God and what He has for you.

God withholds no good thing from us, which also means He’s too good of a Father to let us sail away after less than the best He has in store for us.

Unfortunately, at times, we have to be wrecked to be refocused.

And sometimes we are wrecked because we refuse to listen or heed to God’s warnings.

“Since many were going without food, Paul stood up among them and said, ‘You men should have followed my advice not to sail from Crete and sustain this damage and loss.’”

‭‭Acts‬ ‭27‬:‭21‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Can you forgive God for doing and/or allowing what was necessary to make you safe? God makes no mistakes to need forgiveness, but we must be realistic and recognize that many are hurt and mad at God for what has transpired in their lives. Forgiveness is necessary to trust and move forward.

Can you trust God with the damage and loss? Can you trust Him to bring you through even on broken pieces?

Can you trust Him with the shattered pieces of your relationship, your finances, your business? Can you trust Him with the shattered pieces of your heart?

“He heals the wounds of every shattered heart.”

Psalm 143:7 TPT

Broken pieces are made beautiful in the hands of the Creator.

“Lord show me Your face

I'm longing for Your Presence in this place

I give You all the pieces

'Cause You made a promise

You’d put me back together

Better than I was before

Lord, show me Your will

Until You do I promise that I'll be still

So, come and take these pieces

You made me a promise

You’d put me back together

Better than I was before"

“Show Me” x Yolanda Adams

You’ve experienced disappointment before, and you were able to dream again.

You’ve been through heartbreak before, and guess what? You were healed to love again.

You’ve been talked about before, and you went on to do great things in spite of.

Life ebbs and life flows and God has never let the lows take you out before, so why would He start now?

The thing about seasons, they do change. And storms? They pass.

Don’t worry and don’t rush them.

Learn what they’re meant to teach you so they don’t have to spin the block.

Ride them out with grace.

You’ll be to shore before you know it.

Gentle reminder:

Christ not only walks on the sea, He controls the storm. Ain’t nothing taking you out without His permission, baby. Trust Him to be good. Trust that God is the good, good Father He’s proven Himself to be time and time again throughout your life.

Keep your memory intact. Remember who you are and Whose you are. He’s brought you through before and He will do it again.

Pain passes. It hurts now but healing is already here. Find solace in the fact that even when it doesn’t feel good, God is making ALL THINGS GOOD.

Good for you.

He is working on your behalf. Trust God.

He can be trusted.

“You make every crooked path straight

I am not terrified of the future

Everything in Your hands is beautiful

You make it beautiful for me

Even when it doesn’t look like it, I am sure it’s still beautiful for me

Even when it doesn’t seem like it,

Even when it doesn’t feel like it,

I know I serve a God Who makes everything beautiful

I have a Father that makes everything beautiful

You make all things beautiful”

“You Make All Things Beautiful (Not Moved)” x Victor Thompson
